How DarkHorse Refreshed a River Ridge Restaurant's Digital Presence as Facebook Views Topped 50,000
Restaurant marketing, social media management and website development for Kelley's Village Inn, a River Ridge tradition on Jefferson Highway. DarkHorse took over the restaurant's marketing on September 16, 2026.
THE RESULT
Since DarkHorse took over in September, Kelley's Village Inn has a consistent, recognizable presence across its website, brand and Facebook. Over the Facebook dashboard's 60-day reporting period, the restaurant's content was viewed more than 50,000 times, and most of those views came from people who didn't follow the page yet.
• 50,577 Facebook content views, Aug 21 – Oct 19, 2026*
• +620% vs the previous period*
• 76.7% of views from non-followers*
• +505% Reel views and +554% video watch time*
DarkHorse began managing the account on September 16, 2026; the Facebook dashboard period shown begins August 21, 26 days earlier.
THE CHALLENGE
Kelley's had what most restaurants are chasing: loyal regulars, a menu people know by heart, and weekly specials worth talking about. The gap was online.
The restaurant needed:
• A refreshed website that makes menus, specials and information easy to find
• Consistent branding across every platform
• A steady social presence instead of occasional posts
• A way to reach diners who don't already follow the page
REFRESHED THE WEBSITE
Refreshed homepage content and branding, with clearer paths to menus, specials and restaurant info.
Removed duplicated content and added an About section on the restaurant's local history.
Converted the digital menu into organized sections with standardized pricing.
Wrote location-specific homepage SEO copy and search-friendly descriptions for seafood, steaks, oysters, crab and specials, plus a plain-language business description for AI search tools.
Promoted the site launch on Facebook.
BUILT A WEEKLY RHYTHM AROUND THE SPECIALS
Turned the weekly lineup into a recognizable content series:
• Wednesday Pork Chop Night and $9 oysters
• Thursday Steak Night: 18–22 oz ribeye or 8 oz filet for $24.95
• Friday Crab Night
• Saturday snow crabs, $2 long necks, $5 frozen margaritas and $9 raw oyster dozens, plus LSU and football-weekend content
Rounded it out with the lunch buffet, stuffed artichokes, roast beef muffulettas, food photography, atmosphere and group-dining imagery, polls and neighborhood storytelling.
The most-viewed post of the period was a weekly specials graphic, with 10,544 views.*
DEFINED A VINTAGE NEIGHBORHOOD BRAND
Developed a vintage Louisiana neighborhood-restaurant look built on Kelley's Red, Warm Cream and Charcoal.
Created reusable weekly-specials templates so every post is recognizable in the feed.
Anchored the brand in two lines: "Good Food. Familiar Faces. A River Ridge Tradition." and "Good Food. Good People. Generations of Memories."
Developed merchandise concepts, including vintage pocket-logo tees with a building illustration, trucker hats, red drum fishing shirts and winter chef coats. These are concepts and haven't been produced.
SUPPORTED EVENTS & SEASONAL PROMOTIONS
Shuck Cancer (October 2026): provided event branding and promotion support for Kelley's two-booth presence, featuring Ameripure oysters and chicken pasta, with branded signage, checkered and cream table styling, oyster-themed stickers and business cards.
Thanksgiving oyster preorders: created promotional messaging and graphics for shucked oysters (half pint to gallon) and live oysters (dozen to bushel), directing customers to call the restaurant to order.
STRENGTHENED COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Responded professionally to reviews, including negative ones.
Highlighted regulars, ran polls and shared neighborhood stories.
Developed a fishing-themed photo wall concept for the dining room.
KEY INSIGHT
For a neighborhood restaurant, the most effective content is often the most direct: a clear photo of the food and tonight's special.
Photos made up 86.5% of the content viewed, and in the period's final week, photos outperformed other formats by 806%.* People scrolling Facebook are deciding where to eat, and a strong plate photo with a clear offer answers that question fastest.

You already have the food, the regulars and the reputation. DarkHorse helps Louisiana restaurants get that in front of people who haven't found them yet.

DarkHorse began managing the account on September 16, 2026, so the period includes 26 days before the takeover. "Views" are platform-reported content views (times content was shown), not unique people reached. Figures cover all page activity, don't separate organic from paid, and don't measure sales or visits.
